Gambling and Bowling are almost synonymous. There are a few common games that we play for money while bowling that new bowlers may not be aware of or completely understand. Don’t be afraid to ask as it is a great way to meet people and have a little fun.
The most common games are
Bowling Brackets – 8 person mini tournaments during league play
Bowling Nassau – Simply high game wins the pot. One pot per game.
Bowling Cut-the-Field – Similar to brackets, but you bowl against the entire field, not just one other person.

The first televised 300 game in PBA history was shot by Jack Biondolillo in a semi-final match of the 1967 Tournament Of Champions… This, however, was not the first Televised 300 game… The very first televised 300 game was shot by Grazio Castellano during an Eastern All-Star League Session in (I believe) October of 1953.
Grazio Castellano on October 4, 1953… That was the first televised 300.
But Jack Biondolillo had the first NATIONALLY televised 300 at the 1967 Tournament of Champions.
Do I get the gold star?
Also a couple of questions for the giggling gurus behind the desk…
1: How much is a “UNIT” of oil in milliliters (ml)? Our house shot is supposedly 25 units, but I can’t find what that actually means.
2: Due to a wrist injury, I’m forced to wear a brace (a Master PowerPaw) on my throwing arm wrist… Now that I’ve grown accustomed to it, and have a decently high rev rate again, I find my spareball hooking quite a bit… I can’t flatten out my wrist, and I’ve tried a 4000 + mass polishing… Is there any higher surface grit, or Kryptonian polish that could make it skid again?
To answer your first question I believe that one "unit" is one "mL" of oil… Not sure though, just trying to help 🙂
That's a funny question because when I was putting the information into the video, I asked Tony if I should put 20 ml… He told me everyone calls it units and to just put that. So your question is very pertinent and yes, it is measured in milliliters.
For your second question, do you know how fast you throw the ball? Also, is your "spare" ball a plasic ball or reactive? Your best option for a spare ball is any plastic (polyester) bowling ball.
I run brackets, pot games(Nassau), and blind doubles during my Tuesday league. I only run scratch right now. This year i'm having trouble with people getting in my side games due to the fact that bowlers in my area/league don't have that discretionary income to gamble with. I used to be that guy who used cards! I tried to make it as fair as possible, most the time 🙂

Thanks John… So a “unit” is just 1ml, now I know, and knowing is half the battle.
I throw between 16 and 18mph for spares, and I use a C300 White Dot plastic (the black/silver/caramel). I’ve polished the heck out of it… But it’s still coming back a bit on the backend.
Our proshop owner has said that the synthetic lanes we roll on are very dry at the finish…
