You must throw a minimum of 2 strikes to break 200. The highest you can shoot with only 1 strike is 192
Hey guys, I love your shows they have helped me extremely. Could you guys possibly do a show about top weight and pin placement? What is recommended to get? What are all three of your guys top weight and pin placement? I have heard getting 3-4 inches all around is a good, i'm not quite sure though. If you guys could please reply back or e-mail me, that would be great. If not, maybe could answer my question on one of your guys next videos. Thank you.
Hi Michael,
If you go back and watch episode 9, we talk about pin placement and how it affects your choice. Top Weight and Pin Placement is specific per bowling ball, not unique to the bowler like the PAP is. The main thing we control is the PAP. If we release consistently, then the PAP will be consistent. Once you know this, you put everything else (Pin, CG, and Mass Bias) in relation to your PAP.
In general terms, getting a pin of 2-4 inches will give you the most overall layout possibilities. However shorter and longer are still very drillable. Top weight has much less to do with overall performance, it just needs to be considered for the USBC static imbalances rule.
The most important things to control ball reaction:
Consistency (in release and approach)
Coverstock (can and should be tweaked by cleaning, polishing, sanding, etc…)
Layout (by choosing a layout that works best for you)
Thank you John for your response, I will keep that and mind and I will look back at episode 9 again and review it over. Thank you once again for your help.
