In our inaugural episode of Talk Bowling, we are going to tell you alittle bit about ourselves, changes to bowlingball.com, and our review of the Storm Virtual Gravity.
Brian Halstrom – Has been bowling for 20 years and has competed in youth tournaments. He currently averages 220. He graduated from Vincennes University with a degree in Bowling Industry Management.
John Congdon – Has bowled his entire life, but not consistently. He has only bowled in leagues and started getting serious about 5 years ago. He started working for bowlingball.com in 2004 and has been improving ever since.
bowlingball.com has added a couple of changes to their website. Added Checkout by Amazon and PayPal Pay Later. We have also taken the entire site to Free Shipping.
The Storm Virtual Gravity is coming out November 17, 2008. We had a chance to test it and we are very impressed. John couldn’t throw the ball at its out of box(OOB) finish because of his lower ball speed. He then polished it up and really liked the look it gave him on the lane. Brian was able to throw it OOB because of his higher speed and rotation. Watch the video on the product page to see him in action. He is hooking the whole lane with the ball.

Hey big bro! I thought you guys did good for your first cast! I agree with Annie, the banter between the 2 of you is good. You hit it on the nose when you said you were a little tight. You have a great sense of humor and you need to let that come out more. Otherwise, I thought you guys did great! Keep it up.
Hey Brian, being coached by coach Sparks, do you feel that your game excelled to the next level?
Hi Eric. To answer your question, being coached by Sparks is probably the best thing that's happened to my game. Unfortunately for me, Vincennes was only a two-year university. I would have loved to have been coached by him for a full four years. On top of being a great coach, he's a great person. If you have a chance to work with him, I would highly recommend it.
Yeah, I have gotten lots of great feedback. This week we are going to try to have talking points instead of a script. People didn't like the fact that we (I especially) seemed like I was reading from a script.

I am hoping to have the show available in iTunes shortly. That will make it easier to watch them without me having to email everyone.
Our production level will go up over time. I just ordered a Green Screen so that we don't have the ugly background. Unfortunately it will not be here for this weeks episode.
Down the road we will all have our own microphones, currently we have one in the middle. There is a lot we need, unfortunately it all costs $$$.
I am impressed. Everything seemed great. Smart programmer-types usually aren't great in front of the camera, but you both seemed fine. Plus, you can only get better. Keep it up.

the thing with @garyvee is his PASSION for what he's doing. He loves what he's talking about, he could do it all day long. I think this show needs to show love of bowling and interest in total news rather that make it feel like an ad for bowlingball.com. Also try to keep the terminology and jargon to a minimum most average bowlers do not know what a pin is or an axis point. Keep it simple.
gary uses his name of his show as a reference to his wine store. Wine Library TV= Winelibrary.com. Also just the fact that you say the shows about news from the bowling industry, then it seems to turn into a ad for bowlingball.com. Maybe use talkbowling.com as a platform for bowlingball.com.
Also may i suggest PBA tour news.

I think it would be kinda cool if you'd tape this at a bowling center. you know be at like lane 1 and shoot it across the lanes and see ppl bowling and stuff, kinda like they do while interviewing PBA players. Maybe drop a plug for the center in the show.

I am not going to disagree with you about the bowlingball.com ad "feel". We are new to this and we are kind of learning as we go.
I love Gary's passion and want that to come out in our show as well. I will try to be a little more upbeat, but you won't see that in episode #2 🙁
We have thought about talking about the PBA a little, but so far we haven't because we want to keep the episode's on the shorter side. But we are not ruling that out.
We have a green screen coming and will probably have the bowling center feel, but will not shoot it live in a center at this point. Time is such a huge factor for us, we already work 7a-5p and want to see family after work.

It will be a weekly show as long as we keep getting responses to them. We will try and be consistent and release every Friday.
John – HUGE props. You did just fine for episode 1. When I started the Moxie Mo Show, my first four episodes are HORRIBLE, yet they were "on the job trainings" as I did not know one iota about editing, podcasting, etc.
First rule of thumb – act like the camera isn't there. Instead, have it be your friend, significant other or whomever makes you act like your normal self. You guys did great!

We have a Canon HV30, mini DV camcorder.
I decided to do OJT as well. I finally got fed up about talking about it and just bit the bullet. I told Brian that we are going to do it and just set a date.
Now that I said it was once a week, I feel compelled to keep it up.
